Stuff I've Learned From Twitter

I've put off joining Twitter for a long time because...well...I have a tendency to become obsessed with things, and I was worried I would just sit in front of my computer all day refreshing my twitter feed and  forsake all face-to-face contact with the outside world.  OK...I'm being a little over-dramatic.  I'm way too social to let that happen, but just ask my husband about the 4684208624 hours I spent researching houses to buy, finding the perfect cabin to rent in the Smoky Mountains and looking into a tropical vacation for us. You get the picture about just how obsessed I can become.

I decided to take the Twitter plunge several weeks ago so that I could connect with more tall people and boy am I glad I did!  Not only is it boatloads of fun tweeting with all my new tall "buddies", check out all the random stuff I've learned.

1) Seatguru.com courtesy of @TallUnited (http://tallunited.com/ and http://www.facebook.com/TallUnited) - @TallUnited tweeted about being able to find the perfect seat for your flight on SeatGuru.  How fabulous is that for us tall folk?  I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am with myself when I make a special request for the exit row  only to find out that the exit row that they put me and my 6'4 husband in is funky and doesn't have any extra legroom.  Tall United's site is launching in 44 days, 6 hours and 24 minutes (no I'm not a psychic...there's a countdown on the site). Be sure to register your email on the site so you don't miss out on anything.

2)  Inexpensive loungy pants courtesy of @tallswag (http://www.tallswag.com/) - I've been needing some new pants to wear around the house so when the always-in-the-know-about-all-things-tall Alicia Jay tweeted about these velour pants from Alloy, I was stoked! They come in THREE inseams (32", 35" and 37") and three colors (black, navy and mocha) and are only $34.90 or 2 for $49.90. Alloy.com has a bunch of long inseam pants.  Check them out here.  And since you'll need a top to wear with your pants, check out Alicia Jay's newly launched T Swag T-shirt/tank line.

3)  Free tall personal shopper services courtesy of (tallclothingmall.com and tallsnob.com) - Krista over at Tall Clothing Mall has TONS of links to pretty much any tall item of clothing you could possibly think of on her website.  Often, she'll tweet something like "Anyone need help finding any tall clothing today?" so I decided to take her up on it and asked her about tall golf pants.  She immediately came back with a link to a bunch of different tall khakis that will likely work for golf!  Liz (@ellemayers and ellemayers.com) noticed the conversation we were having and also chimed in since she's a golfer herself.  If you're in the mood to do some online shopping, but don't feel like spending countless hours looking for stuff, email Krista the specifics of what you want and she'll do all the legwork for you!  Click here for more details

4)  Fun Upcoming Blog Series by @LauraJaneSchof (allthetallthings.com) - Laura has been one of my FAVORITE tall bloggers for awhile now so when she tweeted me asking me to submit a photo of my favorite tall outfit for her upcoming Reader Style Week, I was quite happy.  (She tweeted a bunch of other people and put out this APB on her blog so it's not like I'm special or anything...I just get excited when people send me tweets since I'm new to Twitter. In case you can't tell, I'm easily amused).  I can't wait to see all the fashion photos Laura's readers submitted and there's still time to submit one of your own!

I know that not all of my readers are on Twitter, so I didn't want you to miss out on all the fun I've been having.  It's quite cool to know that I can send a tweet to the tweetosphere asking a question about where people have found various tall items and will usually get a quick reply from my new tall "buddies".

Oh and in case you do decide to take the Twitter plunge, you can follow me at
