Tall Cardigans - Banana Republic and Old Navy

I've been sick for almost a week now, but I decided I ain't gonna let that stop me from sharing my tall finds. No way, no how!  Plus, blogging cheers me up so I figured it might make me feel better to do a little post. So, if you'll promise not to look at my bleary eyes and messy hair and only look at the tall cardigans I've recently scored, you're allowed to keep reading.

Several weeks ago, I finally got tired of my boss teasing me about wearing short sleeved-blouses to work in the dead of winter and she probably got tired of me whining that my work wardrobe mostly consists of said short-sleeved blouses since I have spent most of my working life in Southern California and am still muddling through how to dress myself properly in a region that actually has seasons. So, I decided it's high time I beef up my sweater collection.

Old Navy

When I put out an APB on Twitter asking where the tall ladies were buying cardigans these days, one of my Twitter buddies (I just can't bring myself to say Tweeps) suggested Old Navy.  As luck would have it, they were having a nice sale! So I bought these 2 sweaters for a grand, whopping total of $31.

The one on the left is a light tan with white polka dots and I LOVE it. I wish the sleeves were a tiny bit longer but at least it's not even close to being as bad as the high water sleeve sweaters in the beginning of this post. Since it was only $13, I bought both a small and a medium. The one I'm wearing here is the medium and it definitely fits better than the small (which I will probably gift to my mom). Unfortunately, this particular cardigan is not on the site anymore.

BUT the cardigan on the right is still up for grabs and it comes in a bajillion colors....OK...maybe not that many, but it does come in 9! I bought it in the "Night Flight" color, size tall/small, and was surprised to see that it is a lot more navy blue in person than on the website.  The sleeve length and overall sweater length are a bit more generous than the one on the left AND I like how fitted it is. No frumpy, baggy cardigans here! Will these cardis last me forever and ever amen? Probably not but hopefully they'll last a couple of seasons or more. AND I'll probably buy a couple more of the "perfect cardigan" on the right since there are so many fun, bright spring colors and I already know that it fits.

Banana Republic

Next up, Banana Republic! I bought these next two lovely numbers during BR's "40% off all sweaters sale".  On the left, we have the "hidden pocket open cardigan" in size tall/small in the cocoon color.  I do wish the sleeves were a bit longer BUT as I mentioned above, the sleeve length is light years better than most regular sized sweaters I own so I really can't complain. This sweater is quite thin/sheer which is OK by me because I figure I can wear it into spring and early summer. I love the pockets! When I go downstairs to the cafe during my workday for whatever the craving of the moment is (cappuccino or chai latte or iced vanilla americano or egg and sausage biscuit etc.), I can easily slip my phone and credit card in the pockets.

And for the last photo, I decided to let my hair down and, is it just me, or do I look a little jollier? Perhaps it's because I'm all hopped up on the meds my doc prescribed me today and I'm feeling a little better?  The silk button cardigan (in size tall/small) is a little shorter in the body than I would normally like, but the sleeve length is very generous. Maybe they took the material that should have gone on the body and added extra length to the sleeves?

Well that's a wrap for tall cardigans.

P.S. I promise to start having Mr. L3 take some photos of me in the future so you don't have to suffer through my self portraits.

Yes! I'm thinking I need to order a couple more colors! They're very versatile.
